GET INVOLVED
Kongs is a queer-lovin', binary-bustin' gender friendly drag family based in Melbourne. We support drag performers at all stages of their drag journey, with a particular focus on drag kings & out-of-the-box drag and supporting performers under-represented in the scene.
We welcome performers of all levels of experience - first-timers through to established.
Kongs also offers a range of production opportunities for anyone keen to get involved behind the scenes, such as event production, stage management, administration, marketing and more. New Kongs at The Fox
Always thought you were destined for the stage? Wanna let your drag persona out of the living room and give them a stage?
Wanna try out some fresh ideas for a supportive crowd? Then the Kongs open stage is for you!
Registrations open exactly 2 weeks prior to each event to allow performers time to prepare their performance.
Our What's On page is where you can find any current opportunities to sign up for. When you click through to the event details, look for the "Register Now" button. If there is no button then registrations are currently closed for that event.
EOI for Showcase Events
The "Apply to Perform" button below will allow you to submit an expression of interest to Kongs for consideration when we are casting our showcase events. These events happen more sporadically throughout the year so it may be a while before we contact you.
Rest assured we do regularly review these applications to see which performers may be a good fit for upcoming events and particular themes we are exploring.
So You Think You Can MC
Kongs is currently taking expressions of interest for experienced performers who wish to broaden their skill-set by learning more about how to MC a show. Kongs buddies you up with a suitable mentor with extensive MC experience and we give you the opportunity to co-host a New Kongs event with them. To submit your EOI please go to our What's On page and click through to the appropriate form.
